Why Iqbal Day is celebrated?
Iqbal Day is celebrated on 9th November every year as a tribute to acknowledge and commemorate
the contribution of Allama Muhammad Iqbal, the
'Poet of the East' for the Muslims of the subcontinent. Special programmes will be held to shed life on the life of legend, calling for philosophy of Allama Iqbal. The day with dawn the special prayers for progress and prosperity, followed by people's visit the mausoleum of Allama Iqbal and special event to pay tribute to Allama Iqbal
Why Allama Iqbal is called poet of East?
He is known as poet of East because he wrote poetry in Urdu and Persian. His poetry is considered to be revolutionary. His vision of an independent state for the Muslims of British India was a starting point in the creation of Pakistan.
Iqbal is the only non-native Persian poet who has captured the imagination of Iranians with his Persian poetry. Some of his writings like Rumz e Bekhudi (secrets of selflessness) and Asrar e Khudi (secrets of the self) are considered masterpieces in Persian literature. Some of the famous books of Allama Iqbal are Bang e Dira (The call of Marching Bell), Shikwa and Jawab e Shikwa, and many more
