CHILDREN'S DAY
Children's Day is celebrated on 20 of November, every year. The main purpose of celebrating this day is to protect the rights of children and provide them basic facilities of life including better health and education. on 20 November 1959, the United Nations adopted the Declaration of Rights of the Child and was passed by 191 countries. Since then, Children Day is celebrated worldwide every year.
In India it is celebrated every year on 14 of November on the birth anniversary of the first Prime Minister of India and a model for children, Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru. This day is celebrated with great enthusiasm and zest by students and teachers in all states of the country.
It is celebrated on different days all over the world. The first Children's Day event in the world was in June 1857 by Dr. Pastor of the city of Massachusetts,
USA, was organized by Charles Leonard. Although it was first renamed as Flower Sunday, due to the incident on the second Sunday of June, it was later renamed Children's Day.
The significance of 20 November as Children's Day increases further because in 1959, the United Nations General Assembly declared the rights of Children. The rights of Children other than adults
are called child rights. Child rights are divided into four different categories namely right to life, right to safety, right to participation and right to development.
In schools the day is celebrated as schools hold sports event, quiz competitions and other activities to celebrate Children's Day. Children are presented with toys, sweets and gifts to make the day special for them.
The day highlights the significance of giving love, attention and affection to children.
Children are budding stars, the more you inspire them, the more they learn.
